In this session we invite contributions that explore the diverse forms of ‘home’ in different urban settings. We want to ask, in what forms did the home (meaning not only the dwelling where individuals and families lived, but also its location and surroundings) express or shape the residents’ social identity? The purpose of the session is to facilitate a comparative analysis of the relationships between home, urban space and social identity in European countries during the twentieth century.
The session forms part of the European Association for Urban History Conference at Prague, 29 August- 1 September 2012. It is organised by Prof. Simon Gunn (Leicester) and Dr Bruno Bonomo (La Sapienza, Rome)
Please submit proposals to the ‘Call for Papers’ section of the conference website http://www.eauh2012.com/sessions/call-for-paper-proposals/
The deadline is 1 October 2011
