Papers, Essays and Reviews (PEAR) is a biannual interdisciplinary journal affiliated with the Center for International Studies at Yonsei University, Seoul, South Korea. PEAR welcomes submissions from all scholars, most notably graduate students, regarding the diverse field of International Studies. We particularly encourage submissions that challenge the conventional wisdom of a given issue.
Each issue of the printed Journal contains the following three sections:
This section includes feature-length articles of original research and must include proper citations. Inclusions should range from 3,000 to 8,000 words.
This section includes essays that take stances on issues and develop sophisticated arguments in the form of editorials, recommendations and reflections. Inclusions should range from 1,500 to 3,000 words.
This section focuses on evaluations and reviews of existing arguments contained in essays, articles and books, in addition to policy reviews or previously published material in PEAR. Inclusions should be no longer than 2,000 words.
PEAR encompasses a wide scope of varying disciplines and methodologies, but each issue will attempt to be thematic. In doing so, we include academic papers, an array of different essays, and argumentation reviews. Graduate students from any number of perspectives are encouraged to submit a research paper to the Journal. All papers, essays and reviews should be relevant to international studies and follow submission guidelines (available to view on the PEAR website).
All submissions must be formatted in Microsoft Word and include an abstract. Please adhere to The Chicago Manual of Style. Submissions can be made via email at email@example.com or via the PEAR website at gsis.yonsei.ac.kr/pear. Full submission guidelines are available from our website.
The deadline for submissions is September 1st, 2011.
