CALL FOR AUTHORS - THE ENCYCLOPAEDIA OF THE HELLENIC WORLD
The Encyclopaedia of the Hellenic World (EHW) (http://www.ehw.gr) is currently looking for contributors for its three new volumes:
Volume IV: Western Mediterranean
Volume V: Central Mediterranean
Volume VI: Eastern Mediterranean.
The EHW is an ongoing electronic project aiming to record, document, and disseminate all the historical data that testify to the presence and influence of Hellenic culture throughout time and space. So far, three volumes have appeared online:
Volume I: Asia Minor
Volume II: The Black Sea
The encyclopaedia’s entries deal with geographical-cultural areas lying beyond the borders of the modern Greek state, and range chronologically from prehistory through the present day. Entries are divided into four main categories: a) geographical entities, b) persons, c) events, and d) general topics. Each entry is accompanied by an array of features such as footnotes, bibliography, audiovisual material, glossary, links to useful websites, and so forth (see for example the entry on Pompey΄s Campaign in Asia Minor: http://www.ehw.gr/l.aspx?id=12409).
The fact that the EHW is available free via the Internet, makes it accessible to a larger, wider and more diverse audience than that of a printed version, since the World Wide Web is today one of the main means of education, communication, information and entertainment.
For further information and expression of interest, please send a message and a copy of your CV by the end of September 2011 to one of the following email addresses:
In response to your inquiry, a list of available entries and Author Guidelines will be sent to you. Please then select which unassigned entries may best suit your interests and expertise. Each contributor will receive full publication credits and a small honorarium.
