“Making Meaning of 9/11: Local Impacts, Global Implications”
September 16-September 17, 2011
St. John’s University, Manhattan Campus, New York City
To mark the ten year anniversary of the attack on the World Trade Center, St. John’s University will host a multidisciplinary conference exploring the enduring effects of 9/11 on the people, institutions, and civic identity of New York and its metropolitan region. The two-day conference will be held at, and have the special vantage point of, the university’s splendid Manhattan campus directly adjacent to Ground Zero. It features plenary addresses by the renown Dr. Henry Giroux of McMaster University and the celebrated photographer Joel Meyerowitz, together with dozen of papers on wide range of topics relevant to this subject.
