Palisades Museum of Prehistory Exhibit at the Palisades Post Office

For the months of July and August, the PMOP has a display at the Palisades Post Office located on MacArthur Blvd.
Exhibited items include:
The Birch Collection
A display of arrowheads/points found by Mr. George Birch of Potomac Avenue during the 1950/60s. The display was later donated to the local boy scout troop. While on temporary loan to the PMOP from Boy Scout Troop 61, the display has been cleaned, catalogued, and photographed.
Stone Points of the Potomac Palisades (24" X 18" Poster)
Just completed, this poster includes examples of 69 stone points, otherwise known as arrowheads/projectile points, found locally. The points are described by their classification and provenience. http://pmop.org/blog/?p=840
Smoking Pipes of the American Indian (24" X 18" Illustrated Poster)
This poster is based on the 1897 Smithsonian Report by Joseph D. McGuire entitled: PIPES AND SMOKING CUSTOMS OF THE AMERICAN ABORIGINES, BASED ON MATERIAL IN THE U.S. NATIONAL MUSEUM

Replications of Stone Age Tools
Primitive technologist, Scott Silsby, recreates methods of hafting stone tools to handles and arrow/dart shafts. All materials are derived locally.
