International Symposium of History, Culture and Civilization of Western Anatolian Principalities-II (Beylik of Menteshe)
With the support of the Turkish Historical Society and all universities in the Aegean region, “International Symposium of History, Culture and Civilization of Western Anatolian Principalities” is designed as a partner scientific activity that the first part of the symposium on Beylik of Aydınoğulları was held between the dates of 04-06 October 2010 in Aydın. The second part of the symposium which bases on Beylik of Menteshe is planned to be held in Muğla between the dates of 25-28 April 2012 and also is aiming to take into consideration and discuss the every aspects of paper proposals and with publishing them, aiming to present an unified and up to date information about the subject of the Turkish principalities that had settled down in the Western Anatolian region. Information about the symposium, which will be held by the host institution; Muğla University, are as follows:
Relevant Topics:
• The matters on the foundation and the origin of the Menteshe Beylik.
• Place and importance of the Beylik of Menteshe among other Western Anatolian Principalities
• Relations of Beylik of Menteshe with other beyliks and states
• Buildings, architecture and art of Menteshe period
• Waqfs and charter of waqfs (vakfiye)
• Religious and cultural life in Menteshe period
• Commercial life and maritime
• Historical geography of beylik (Historical topography of Menteshe region)
Note: Besides above themes, the other relevant topics will also be accepted by the scientific committee

1st Announcement: 30 June 2011
Deadline for submission of the abstracts: 30 September 2011
2nd Announcement: announcement of accepted papers: 30 October 2011

Accommodation:
Accommodation costs of participants will be paid by the Muğla University.
Transportation:
The payment about the transportation costs will be informed in the second announcement.
