Throughout history, the city has functioned as a dynamic nexus of cultural, political, and economic identities, a complex forum for the construction of social categories like ethnicity, class, and gender. Seeking to expand the discourse on this dynamic urbanism to a global platform and beyond the confines of periodization, the Fordham University History Graduate Student Association (HGSA) is hosting a one-day conference on urban history to be held on Saturday, 17 September 2011, at Fordham University's Linclon Center Campus in New York City.
Plenary Speaker: Dr. Guy Ortolano (NYU), "British New Towns and the Unmaking of Mid-century Modernism."
Registration is now open. Early registration (before 1 Sept.): $10; late registration (after 1 Sept.): $15.
