The Centre for Cape Breton Studies, along with the Department of History & Culture and the School of Arts &
Social Science at Cape Breton University, are pleased to present a call for papers on the theme of *Traveling in
Time: Islands of the Past, Islands of the Future*, an international conference organized in collaboration with
the Small Island Cultures Research Initiative (SICRI).
The conference will be held June 7-9 with a pre‐conference tour of the world‐renowned Cabot Trail on June 6.
Please submit your abstract by 1 October 2011 (which is also the deadline for consideration for a travel subsidy). Proposals submitted after this date will be considered until 15 December 2011 if space is available.
Paper proposals should include the paper title, name(s), affiliation(s), abstract and keywords. Abstracts for
papers should be no more than 300 words. Please submit proposals to Henry Johnson (henry.johnson@otago.ac.nz).
Conference registration fee: Can$150 / Can$100 concessions (students, underwaged).
