Appropriating, Interpreting, and Transforming Comic Books (Journal Special Issue)
Call for Papers Date:
This special issue of Transfromative Works and Cultures seeks theoretically informed essays that explore how dedicated fans as well as the broader public have appropriated, interpreted, re-invented and transformed comic books and comic book characters to define visions of themselves, their groups, and their relation to broader society, both national and global.
Transformative Works and Cultures (TWC) is a Gold Open Access international peer-reviewed journal published by the Organization for Transformative Works that publishes articles about popular media, fan communities, and transformative works, broadly conceived. TWC's aim is twofold: to provide a publishing outlet that welcomes fan-related topics, and to promote dialogue between the academic community and the fan community.
