British Association of Film, Television and Screen Studies Postgraduate Network
*Introducing the BAFTSS-PG Network*
What is the BAFTSS-Postgraduate Network?
In short, it is intended to be a network for postgraduates within the newly formed British Association for Film, Television and Screen Studies (BAFTSS), a representative body for higher education departments and scholars engaged in the teaching, research and study of the media of film, television and other screen-based practices in the UK. To find out more about the aims and activities of BAFTSS visit: http://baftss.org/
Led by postgraduate students within film, television and screen studies, the BAFTSS-PGN will form a supportive peer network for postgraduates within the field. The aim of the network is to encourage postgraduate involvement with the aims and activities of BAFTSS by promoting and supporting research, learning and teaching, and achievements of postgraduates in the fields of film, television and screen studies.
What does the BAFTSS-PGN Aim to Do?
The BAFTSS-PGN is still developing, but our key aims are:
- To form a representative body for postgraduate students within BAFTSS, representing their interests to the main BAFTSS committee and providing a forum for them at BAFTSS events.
- To promote and foster initiatives, events and knowledge exchanges within the field that support postgraduate career development in research, learning and teaching.
- To establish an online space and Jiscmail list through which information and experience relevant to postgraduates within the field, such as resources, internship opportunities and calls for papers, can be shared electronically between them.
- To establish mutually beneficial links with postgraduate sections within other related academic organisations such as MeCCSA, NECS and SCMS and organisation outside academia such as the BFI.
