The University of Salamanca organizes since 2002 the International Symposium “Musical creation and soundtracks”, Simposio Internacional “La creación musical en la banda sonora”, which is now a national and international reference for the study of music and media. We seek multidisciplinary approaches, bringing together musicology, media studies, cultural theory, sociology, etc.
This 6th edition focuses on subjects drawn from past simposia, such as the interrelations between specific musical genres and cinema, historiography of Spanish film music or media analysis methodologies and their possible applications for teaching. On the other hand, the Simposium would like to bring together scholars interested in television studies, videoclips, video-games, music and the Internet as well as in the new practices of consumerism and production related to the newest digital developments. On this occasion the conference will privilege the exchanges between participants and every paper will be of the same duration, 15 minutes approximately.
The conference will be structured around several round tables. Collective pannels, including three or four complementary papers, are likewise encouraged. The pannel’s coordinator should submit the title, the names of the participants and an abstract of no more than 300 words of each paper. The participants should equally submit their proposal individually addressing how they contribute to the pannel.
All papers delivered will be eligible for future publication. The languages of the event will be English and Spanish.
Registration fees are 60 euros for students and 90 for the rest of attendants.
