Special issue of Iranian Studies on the Kurds
The Kurds between Empires and Nation-States 1878 to 1947
Iranian Studies is a peer-reviewed journal devoted to Iranian and Persian history, literature, and society, published on behalf of the International Society for Iranian Studies. Its scope includes all areas of the world with a Persian or Iranian legacy, especially Iran, Afghanistan, Central Asia and the Caucasus, and northern India. In keeping with the journal’s mission it will be publishing a special issue relating to the Kurds. This special issue will focus on the history and politics of the Kurds in the period between 1878 and 1947. The journal particularly welcomes articles relating to the Kurds and Kurdish question in Iran during the aforementioned period.
Other subjects of interested would be
• The Kurds in the late Ottoman and Qajar Empires
• The Emergence of the Kurdish Question as a question in international diplomacy
• The Kurdish Question in the inter-state relations of the region
• The emergence of the Kurdish nationalist movement
• The Kurds in the in the interwar period (Iraq, Syria, Turkey, Iran and the USSR)
Guidelines for submissions:
All submissions should be in English between 5,000 and 10,000 words (including footnotes) in length. They should be submitted in word format as well as a separate word file including a 100-120 word abstract and the author’s biographical information. Review articles should be between 1,000 and 1,500 words.
