The committee especially welcomes proposals relating to Mobile and the Gulf Coast; international, transnational, and comparative approaches; and sessions commemorating anniversaries of major historical events or publications. All submissions should be made electronically through the SHA website. The deadline for submissions is September 1, 2011. In accordance with SHA by-laws, no one who participated on the previous two programs, either in Charlotte or Baltimore, is eligible for participation on the 2012 program. In a change from the usual procedure, the Program Committee is asking that submissions include only suggestions for chairs and commentators, with the final decisions for those positions to be made by the committee.
