The Mediterranean, the sea among the lands, has always brought the people from different nations, religions and cultural spheres around it together. As Braudel writes, “The Mediterranean speaks with many voices; it is a sum of individual histories.” Today, the lands around the sea continue to unfold many stories, and we would like to call for papers from academicians and policy makers that discuss these separate histories mediated by the Mediterranean. Papers on Cyprus conflict, Turkey-Greece relations, Israel-Palestine conflict and other problem regions are welcome. Some other possible topics are:

- Recent political and social shifts in Arab Mediterranean,
- Political and economic conditions of the Mediterranean region,
- Relations between Eastern and Western Mediterranean.

The conference will be held on 24-26 November 2011. The deadline for abstract (200 words maximum) submission is 15 July 2011. Please send a 200 word (maximum) abstract and a CV to Cenk Aygül
