Join Domenico Rizzo, Department of History, University of Naples “L’Orientale,” as he examines a legal case from nineteenth-century Italy in which a marriage was annulled on the grounds of the husband’s sexual impotence. In his discussion of the “fragility” of the male body, he will address theories of masculinity proposed by George Mosse, Bob Connell, and Pierre Bourdieu. A faculty member in the International Ph.D. program in Citizenship, Rights, and Gender Equality in Modern and Contemporary History, Professor Rizzo specializes in the history of sex, gender, and the law.
