CALL FOR PAPERS. Invitation to submit indiviual papers.
This conference will address English Studies as a discipline in transition and reflect on where it has been and where it is going. With the meteoric rise of English globally, the language is studied and used by as many as 2 billion speakers, and English Studies departments now teach such varied subjects as communications, discourse and rhetoric, language, literature, and film representing English language usage and texts across the globe. The study of classical English texts might be declining, but that slack has been taken up by other areas and endeavors, creating numerous challenges and opportunities.
The conference has five major strands.
1.Tradition and Its Discontents
2.Language, Culture, and Discourse
3.The Globalization of English
4.Internationalization and Learning
5.Finding Common Ground
We invite contributions for the conference under these five different strands especially but not exclusively.
Please submit your proposals before 1st July 2011
