We are working on a contracted book titled The Routledge Handbook of U.S. Diplomatic and Military History since 1865. We have already gathered a number of great contributors for this volume and are seeking additional contributors for the remaining sections.

We see this book being used in upper level or graduate classes on military or diplomatic history, with the potential for individual essays or chapters being used in a wide range of courses.

We are seeking two different types of essays, as noted on the brief outline below-historiography/overview/introductory essays and topical essays within the chapter. Below is the list of essays for which we still need contributors.

These essays are overviews of the period and should include a review of literature- Westward Expansion and the Beginnings of America’s Overseas Empire: 1865-1898 The US in the First World War & Treaty of Versailles Clandestine Operations & Cold War on the Periphery 1953-1983 Post Cold War Conflicts

These essays are topical and may be include new material, or new arguments-

Conquering the Western Frontier: The Buffalo Soldiers
U.S. overseas expansion in the post Civil War era
The Philippine Insurrection and Birth of U.S. Colonialism in Asia
The Platt Amendment and US Occupation Policies in Latin America
US Military Planning during the Interwar Period
Roosevelt, Churchill and Stalin and the Second Front in Europe
UN Coalition Warfare during the Korean Conflict
Eisenhower, Kennedy and the CIA: Iran, Guatemala and the Bay of Pigs
Operation Just Cause
Operation Desert Storm
Operation Iraqi Freedom

Essays will be roughly 4,000 to 5,000 word count and we would like a full rough draft by the August 15.
