LCMND: Languages & Cultures Circle of Manitoba & North Dakota
Language & Power
September 23-24, 2011
You are invited to consider issues of language(s) and power in literature, rhetoric, culture, professional/technical/scientific communication, social and regional language varieties, multilingual encounters, and the lexicons and grammatical structures of languages. Other topics related to language and culture, especially those with a view to media, technology, and communications, are also welcome. Sessions will be organized in English and French panels.
The LCMND conference is peculiarly regional, international, and trans-continental all at the same time and is a delight to take part in. Sessions are typically held in English and French but have featured the Dakota language as well. When the conference last met at NDSU in Fargo, it drew participants from coast to coast in both the U.S. and Canada.
Call for Proposals deadline: June 30, 2011
Notification: August 15, 2011
Location: Radisson Inn, downtown Fargo, ND
Contacts: Inquiries can be e-mailed to program co-chairs Bruce Maylath or Robert Kibler.
Sponsored by Departments of English at North Dakota State University and Minot State University.
