The 2011 annual conference of the Society for Historians of American Foreign Relations (SHAFR) will be held June 23-25 at at the Hilton Alexandria Mark Center in Alexandria, Virginia. The conference theme is "Waging War, Making Peace, Crossing Borders."
The conference program features 72 panels over three days, as well as two plenary sessions, one on "9/11, the War on Terror, and U.S. International History," and the second on "The WikiLeaks Phenomenon and U.S. Foreign Relations." Luncheon speakers are Marilyn B. Young of New York University, SHAFR's current president, and Andrew Bacevich, Boston University, author of Washington Rules and The Limits of Power.
