Essay Contest in Ethics
Spring 2011
The Society for Moral Inquiry (SMI) works to showcase excellent writing in
philosophy, particularly in ethics. The Society organizes an Ethics@MSU workshop
each year, and this year we are soliciting entries for an essay contest. The contest is
open to any undergraduate student. The winning author will receive a $300.00
honorarium to present his or her paper at this year's workshop. The winning scholar
will also receive travel funds, if required, to campus and hotel accommodations.
The Ethics@MSU workshops are held on the campus of Montclair State University.
Campus is easily accessible by train, and buses, approximately 15 miles from NYC.
Entries must be academic papers (4000-4250 words, including abstract), formatted in
APA style, and sent via e-mail (chris.herrera@montclair.edu). We will judge
submissions on their originality and philosophical rigor. Submissions must not have
been published or presented before. The deadline for submissions is May 1st, 2011.
This year's workshop is made possible through a grant from the American
Philosophical Association. For more information, see: https://blogs.montclair.edu/smi/2011/04/04/ethicsmsu-spring-2011/
