The Arcadia Fund is a private philanthropic fund that has been campaigning for open access to publicly-funded research. We recently participated in a round table discussion on Open Access. Convened by David Willetts MP, Minister of State for Universities and Science, roundtable participants included the heads of most of the UK Research Councils, JISC, RIN, HEFCE, several publishers and learned societies, research charities and academics. We are delighted that the government has now produced a document stating its support for Open Access, and its inclusion in the 2011 white paper on higher education.
