Hazel Johnson, the Chicago activist known as the mother of the Environmental Justice movement, died on January 12, 2011. To honor this strong and committed woman and her impact on the health of men, women, and children worldwide, Editor-in-Chief Sylvia Hood Washington is organizing a Festschrift issue to celebrate her accomplishments in the peer-reviewed journal, Environmental Justice.
Dr. Washington welcomes submissions for this landmark issue in the form of personal reminiscences of up to 750 words for those who knew her personally; 750-word essays on how Ms. Johnson’s work impacted upon you as a scholar in the field; and high-caliber full-length scholarly articles of up to 3,500 words. The deadline for manuscript submissions is July 1, 2011.
