“African American Femininities: The Michelle Obama Effect” is a one-day symposium that will take place at the University of Texas at San Antonio (UTSA) on Thursday, April 14, 2011.
The Symposium will bring scholars, students, and the public together to analyze and discuss the conflicting and complex representations and realities of contemporary African American women.
The African American Studies Spring Symposium, in its fourth year, was established by Dr. Joycelyn Moody, Sue E. Denman Distinguished Chair in American Literature at UTSA. The objective of the Symposium is to promote academic and community dialogue on the historical and ongoing issues related to the African Diaspora.
