History in the Hands of American Women Writers
This Panel for PAMLA 2011 Conference, which will be held at Scripps College, CA on Nov. 5&6, 2011 is organized by the Southern California Society for the Study of American Women Writers.
This panel invites paper proposals that discuss historical fiction, poetry, and/or biographical writings by American female authors from the 17th to the end of the 19th centuries. Accepted papers will focus on the poetic, fictional, historiographical, and/or journalistic (non-fictional) representations of historical people and events. Papers that study the ways women's voices have fashioned history in the literary fabric of American culture and the relationship between genre and gender will be of primary interest.
Please submit paper proposals by March 25, 2011 at www.pamla.org/2011
