Greetings Colleagues,
I am forming a panel for the upcoming Association for the Study of African American Life and History’s (ASALH) conference in Richmond, Virginia, Oct. 5-9 2011. The panels theme will be on the Trans-Atlantic Influence on the American Civil War. My personal work examines how the Haitian revolution and its repercussions added to tensions in American politics, especially on the topics of Race and Emancipation. I welcome proposals that touch upon a similar theme. Proposals can address any Trans-Atlantic influence (and any nation), but I will pay more attention to ones concerning ideas on Race and Emancipation. To serve as a moderator/chair I have enlisted Dr. Joshua Nadel Assistant Professor of History at North Carolina Central Universtity. Please send proposals by April 1st to the email address provided so we can begin forming a panel proposal. I look forward to you submissions.
Thank you for your assistance,
Andrew Maginn
