Boston Black Theater Collective (BBTC), founded three years ago as a joint venture between the William Monroe Trotter Institute for the Study of Black History and Culture at UMass Boston, directed by Dr. Barbara Lewis, and the Color of Film Collaborative, led by Lisa Simmons, invites interested parties to participate in a university and college circuit, tentatively called the Noir Network University, College, and Community league, that would help promote meaningful dialogue, as well as groom writers and new productions for non-profit, commercial, and regional stages. It is anticipated that the league will be up and running by Fall 2012, in time to plan a slate of presentations for the 150th anniversary of the Emancipation Proclamation.
Interested cultural organizations, universities and colleges, should email the bostonblacktheatercollective@gmail.com for more information, or contact Dr. Barbara Lewis at barbara.lewis@umb.edu.
