"The Tea Party in American History" is the topic of this year's NCSU History Department's History Weekend on March 18-19. The featured speaker is Harvard Professor Jill Lepore. All events are free and open to the public and will be held in Withers 232A on the NCSU campus. (See the map at our website for location of the building and convenient parking.)
Schedule:
Friday March 18, 7:30 PM. "History in the Media: From the Adams Family to Simpsons" Using episodes from PBS series on the Adams Family and a Simpsons' episode on history and commemoration, Prof. Lepore will lead a discussion of the way history and media interact.
Saturday March 19, 10 AM, Prof. Lepore will discuss her recent book on The Whites of Their Eyes: The Tea Party's Revolution and the Battle over American History and then take questions. After the lecture, she will sign her books, which will be available for purchase. Part of the proceeds help sponsor future History Weekend events.
