Seeking Manuscripts for Upcoming Book on LGBT issues in Strategic Communication
Call for Papers Date:
We are currently soliciting brief proposals (title and 1,000 word synopsis) for research chapters to be included in an upcoming edited volume. The volume will focus on issues and trends focusing on how strategic communication disciplines (advertising, marketing, and public relations) interact with the LGBT community as practitioners and audiences.
If you look at our leading journals, research on the LGBT community is rare, and mostly focuses on strategies to attract LGBT dollars. The goal of this project is to bring scholarly attention to the disciplines' interaction with a variety of LGBT audiences--internal (employees and volunteers) and external (consumers, tourists, activists, and voters).
We want to expand the LGBT conversation and are looking to put together an edited book that focuses on a variety of topics, including (but not limited to):
-Discrimination and harassment in the workplace
-Community relationship strategies with PRIDE campaigns/events
-Content analyses of advertisements and marketing messages or even media coverage of LGBT events/spokespeople
-Career experiences and workplace identity
-Activism strategies (e.g., gay marriage debate)
-Communication strategy with crossing over from LGBT media to mainstream media
By no means is this list exhaustive, and the editors are open to more ideas.
The editors are open and want to include a variety of research methods and research perspectives for this book.
Please submit your working title and a synopsis by March 23, 2011.
If you have any questions, please feel free to contact the co-editor Natalie Tindall.
