For the 2012 MLA Annual Convention in Seattle, this proposed Special Session seeks papers that explore origins, development, and/or challenges to the self-made man myth in American literature. I am especially interested in papers that address the impacts of race and gender and/or explore ties to the American dream? Please submit, via email, a 250 word abstract and brief CV. Participants who are chosen must be members of the MLA by 7 April 2011.
