ASHEVILLE, N.C. – The Western Office of the North Carolina Department of Cultural Resources has re-opened at its new location in east Asheville, 176 Riceville Road, Asheville N.C. 28805.
“This newly-restored building will allow us to achieve our mission of providing comprehensive historical services to the western region of the State,” said Regional Supervisor Jeff Futch. “We are open Monday through Friday, from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., and look forward to serving the people of Western North Carolina,” said Futch.
The Western Office provides professional assistance in areas of historic preservation and restoration, archaeology, records and information management, archives and museum services, and cultural and heritage tourism to both organizations and individuals. The new location includes a Heritage Room for educational workshops and exhibitions, as well as additional space for processing and storing paper and photographic collections of value and interest.

On May 23 the Western Office will host a regional workshop for museum professionals and volunteers in the basic care of museum artifact collections. Formal ribbon-cutting ceremonies will also be scheduled in May.
