The Eighth Annual
College of Arts and Social Sciences
University of Aberdeen, Scotland, UK
Wednesday 20 – Thursday 21 July 2011
Quite unique in its scope and content, Moving Forward is a conference designed by and for the postgraduate population. It aims to bring postgraduate students together from different departments, disciplines and universities, and in doing so, to help foster a sense of collective identity and create a forum for the discussion and debate of common issues. The conference also provides an annual opportunity for students to establish and maintain academic networks and to present past, current and proposed work in a supportive yet professional atmosphere.
Papers which engage with this year’s theme ‘Impact or Impasse: Postgraduate Research Beyond Academia’ are welcomed from any of the Arts and Social Sciences disciplines. At Aberdeen, these include:
• Business - Accountancy-Finance; Economics; Property; Management.
• Divinity, History and Philosophy - Cultural History; Divinity/Theology; History of Art; History; Philosophy; Religious Studies; Archaeology.
• Language and Literature - English; Modern Languages incl. Celtic, French, German and Hispanic Studies; Language and Linguistics; Film Studies.
• Social Science - Anthropology; Politics & International Relations; Sociology; Gender Studies; Ethnology & Folklore.
