We are pleased to announce our sixth Search for the Healthy City study tour in Italy, September 1 - 11, 2011, in beautiful Florence and Tuscany. During this residential seminar we will discuss classics of medical history and public health and visit healing and cultural sites to learn what makes best health systems tick. The theme this year is History of Nutrition in Healing, Slow Food, and Food Policy in Italy. We will study the history, culture, and biology of healthy eating and explore how cities and communities can foster healthy eating and abundant life today.
After two nights in Florence at the Hotel Torre Guelfa (www.hoteltorreguelfa.com/) we will spend a week at our main seminar location, Rosolaccio (www.rosolaccio.com), a beautifully restored farm building surrounded by vineyards and olive groves in the Chianti region of Tuscany. We will enjoy locally grown food prepared by our own chef onsite and take day trips to the nearby towns of San Gimignano, Siena, Pisa, and Greve.
A tentative itinerary, information on accommodations and costs, and a registration form are attached. This course is open to all interested persons. CME and CEU credits will be offered in collaboration with the University of Tennessee Health Science Center.
