I am forming a panel for the upcoming Great Lakes Conference that will be held in Grand Rapids, Michigan, on October 7-8, 2011. The panel, broadly defined, considers the role of religion on educational philosophy and pedagogy. My specific project looks at the Spiritualist Sunday School movement (The Children's Progressive Lyceums) of the mid-late nineteenth century and their impact on the Progressive education movement (the "New Education") of the early twentieth century. I welcome proposals that touch upon a similar theme and (but not limited to) similar time period, particularly with focus on education and the Progressives, the Sunday School movement, and education and Utopian communities. Proposals can address both local and national scopes and comparative studies are particularly encouraged. Please send proposals by April 1st to the email address provided so we can begin forming a panel proposal. I look forward to your submissions.
Best Regards,
Jennifer Dowie Roe
