Dear Colleagues,
I am forming a panel for the upcoming African Studies Association's annual conference in Washington D.C., Nov. 17-19. The panel, broadly defined, considers heritage tourism in the 21st century, and African American conceptualizations of Africa and Africans. My own project uses historical and anthropological methods to consider heritage tourism in the Senegambian region, and the reactions of visitors to Goree Island, Senegal, and Juffureh Village in the Gambia. Proposals addressing a similar theme are welcome, and can address both local and national scopes, and areas in or outside West Africa where Afro-diasporic communities visit. Please send proposals by February 28th to the email address provided so we can begin forming a panel proposal.I look forward to reading your project proposals.
Best Regards,
Tyler D. Parry
