The Co-operative Education Trust Scotland (CETS) invites proposals for essays to be included in a collection entitled The Co-operative Model in Practice.
This collection will be published with the support of the Scottish Government and the Economic and Social Research Council.
The collection is intended for use in postgraduate taught courses and to stimulate postgraduate research in co-operative studies. It is aimed at students with advanced ability to interrogate concepts, analyse business processes, and initiate their own research projects.
The collection will examine the organisational aspects of co-operatives, mutuals, and employee-owned businesses through international case studies and with attention to changing notions of entrepreneurship and community in the twenty-first century.
The possibility of topics and scholarly methods is wide open so long as the proposed essay addresses co-operatives, mutuals, or employee-ownership.
Themes we hope to see covered in the collection include:
• Membership
• Ownership
• Democratic Governance
• Participation
• Organisational structure
• Corporate Performance
• Business and Environmental Sustainability
• Ethical Trading
Please send your 300-500 word proposal as an electronic attachment in MS Word to Hugh Donnelly hugh.donnelly@cets.coop by 30 April 2011.
We hope you will forward this call for papers to interested colleagues.
