Globalization and technological innovations have created an unprecedented demand to keep up with what is new. The perceived advances related to socially organized processes in innovation make the retraining and mastery of new developments and knowledge a challenge that resonates through and across the major discourses of health. In health care in particular, this situation impinges on the patient, the medical professional and the medical system. We invite participants to engage the status of discourses on 'advances' in knowledge and the bearing of such enthusiasms on the culture of health, and to developments in the arts, sciences and information in everyday life.
This conference will take place June 23-26, 2011, in Toronto, Ontario. Venue TBA.
