Nirupama Menon Rao is an Indian Foreign Service officer currently serving as Foreign Secretary of India. She previously served as Minister of Press Affairs in Washington, Deputy Chief of Mission in Moscow, Joint Secretary (East Asia), the first woman spokesperson of the External Affairs Ministry, Chief of Personnel, Ambassador to Peru, High Commissioner to Sri Lanka, and as the Ambassador to China. She is also a poet and has written a book of poetry entitled Rain Rising. Her poems have been translated into Chinese and Russian. She is also an accomplished singer and pianist.
The event is free and open to the public and will be followed by a reception.
