DÉRIVE is a forum for musings off the beaten path. Each issue's theme is an urban "destination" determined by readers through online vote at www.derivemagazine.com (some possibilities include: the hospital, the fairground, the waiting room, the cinema, the gym). We are a small start-up magazine and are currently soliciting submissions on the theme of "The Street," which is the starting point of our trajectory. In this issue, we pursue the urban experiences standard routes ignore: sidewalk offenses, small talk, stumbling, and the fleeting glimpse of might-have-beens. While we welcome all submissions, Dérive's allegiances are to the essay genre (whether critical, personal, creative, etc.). Please send typed submissions, 2500 words or less, to derivemagazine@gmail.com.
