In commemoration of Black History Month, the Old Exchange Building (OXB) is hosting two of the Lowcountry’s premier historians. On February 4, Dr. Nic Butler of the Charleston Archive, part of the Charleston County Library, will discuss African American music in the Colonial period. On February 18, Dr. Bernard Powers, from the College of Charleston, will lecture on Charleston and its role in the Trans-Atlantic Slave Trade. These lectures are free, but the OXB is asking for a $3.00 donation towards developing its African American exhibit.

Feb 18 “Dr. Powers-Charleston and the Trans-Atlantic Slave Trade”
6:00 pm – 7:00, Old Exchange Building 122 East Bay Street

Admission is free; however the OXB is seeking a $3 donation towards developing an African American exhibit for its’ museum.
