Rick Perlstein is an historian and writer living in Chicago. His books include Nixonland: The Rise of a President and the Fracturing of America (Scribner, 2008) and Before the Storm: Barry Goldwater and the Unmaking of the American Consensus (Hill and Wang, 2001). His articles have appeared in The New York Times, The Washington Post, The Nation, The Village Voice, and The Boston Review.
