Southern Jewish Historical Society annual meeting
|
The Southern Jewish Historical Society (SJHS) will hold its annual meeting at the University of South Carolina in Columbia, South Carolina, from October 28 through October 30, 2011, in partnership with the USC’s Jewish Studies Program and the Jewish Historical Society of South Carolina. We are soliciting proposals for panels or individual papers on any aspect of Southern Jewish history and culture. Because the SJHS conference brings together a diverse group of scholars and laypeople, presentations should appeal to a broad audience.
The deadline for submissions is April 1, 2011. Please send a one-page abstract of your proposed presentation, along with a short biography or CV, to program co-chairs Dale Rosengarten rosengartend@cofc.edu and Phyllis Leffler pkl6h@eservices.virginia.edu.
The Southern Jewish Historical Society promotes research, writing, and public programs relating to the history of Jews in the American South. It holds an annual conference, offers grants to students and independent researchers, and publishes a scholarly journal, Southern Jewish History. For more information, please visit the Society's website at http://www.jewishsouth.org.
