This multi-disciplinary conference taking place at the Wychwood Park Conference Centre in Crewe on the 25 and 26 of June 2011 is currently attracting scholars working in coaching, sports development, philosophy and sports history, although conference organisers are keen to receive submissions from researchers in any relevant discipline, especially those that transcend artificial boundaries or take a critical approach to sport and coaching practices. While ten seminar panels have already been scheduled addressing issues such as coaching ethics, international and domestic perspectives on community sport, coaching practice and delivery, and historical approaches to the acquisition and sharing of sporting knowledge, the organisers have the capacity to accept further proposals for twenty minute papers on any topic related to the past, present or future of sports and/or coaching. We are particularly keen to receive papers that address Olympic history, sporting biographies, or the politics of government involvement in sport. Suggestions for three-paper themed panels will be considered and postgraduates are invited to submit abstracts for either an oral or a poster presentation.
Abstracts of 150-200 words should be forwarded by email attachment as a Word document or a .pdf to :-
Dave Day at D.J.Day@mmu.ac.uk by Tuesday 22nd February.
