Bamidele Demerson is the Executive Director of the International Civil Rights Center and Museum. Hoodoo- and African American spiritual tradition- has origins in Africa, Europe, and Native America. Its creolized beliefs and practices regarding divination, magic, and herbal lore have profoundly inspired the work of many twentieth century "fine" artists
