The study of ‘space and place’ is fragmented and diffuse and stretches across multiple disciplines in both the humanities and the social sciences. It remains a challenging area of study about which there is little concensus between academic disicplines.
The aim of this conference is to explore the varying approaches to space across a wide range of disciplines, expose attendees to new ideas that may inform their own research and to contribute to the continuing opening up of space as an area of study. We aim to attract postgraduates and early-career researchers interested in the incorporation of concepts of spatiality and spatial analysis into their work. Of particular interest are papers considering the way in which the material aspect of spaces can be interpreted and the methodologies that might be employed in this area of study.
