Philosophically, the issue of personal identity, generally, and gendered identity, specifically, raises a number of questions: If change is the primary characteristic of existence, does any self truly endure over time? Is the idea of gendered identity and illusion? Is gendered identity total identification with a body? Is there anything metaphysically real about gendered identity? We invite papers from across disciplines that explore, but not limited to, to the following topics:
Archetypes, stereotypes and gendered identity
Hegemonic narratives and gendered identity
Constructing and deconstructing gendered identity
Gendered identity from the margins
Gendered identity, permanent or fluid
Please submit manuscripts to philoprof@yahoo.com. The deadline for submissions is March 31, 2011. Please visit www.blackmasculinity.com for information about JBM.
