Muslim Family Law: Theories and Practices

Explore the various components of family law in Muslim legal thought, including marriage, divorce, inheritance and custody. This course will begin by examining basic terms associated with Muslim legal traditions, situating them within specific historical contexts. Case studies will follow, first of law reforms in various Muslim societies and then of family law, paying particular attention to the practices of Muslim minority groups in Western countries.
