The AIAA is collaborating with the Department of Navy to organize the Centennial of Naval Aviation Forum to be held at the Virginia Beach Convention Center in Virginia Beach from 21-22 September 2011. This conference is a Tier One Naval aviation event which, takes place during the year long centennial celebration, and is the only dedicated technical conference planned during this time period. The abstract submittal site for this event is now open. The 2011 event will be co-located with the 11th AIAA Aviation Technology, Integration, and Operations (ATIO) Conference, including the AIAA Balloon Systems Conference and 19th AIAA Lighter-Than-Air Technology Conference (20-22 September 2011) and held in conjunction with the NAS Oceana Air Show (24-25 September 2011).
Papers are solicited on the history of naval aviation over the past 100 years on the following topics:
∙ Naval aircraft, including, fixed- and rotary-wing, lighter-than-air, experimental, and unmanned
∙ Naval aircraft systems technology, including airframes,
propulsion, control, and weapons
∙ Ballistic and guided missile development
∙ Design, development, and acquisition processes
∙ Evolution of aircraft carriers and air-capable ships
∙ Theory, doctrine, training, operations, and tactics in peace and war
∙ Key individuals in U.S. naval aviation
∙ Manned and unmanned naval aviation presence in space
The deadline to submit your abstracts is 7 February 2011.
Extended abstracts of 1500-2000 words should be submitted to www.aiaa.org/events/Navy2011.
