In observation of the Civil War sesquecentennial Journal of the West is planning a theme issue devoted to the War in the Far West. We are interested in any historical perspective that examines the Civil War era within the geographic region defined as west of the Rochy Mountains, between the Mexican and Canadian borders (which can include relations with both nations).
Submitted articles should be between 4,000 and 6,000 words in length, with endnotes, and in adherence to Chicago Manual of Style format. Contact the guest editor for the JoW style sheet. Fully completed articles must be received no later than March 31, 2011. Electronic submissions (Microsoft Word format) are encouraged, but hard copies are fine (if sending hard copies, please send three, double spaced, copies for the peer review process).
If you have any questions please contact the guest editor at one of the contacts given below.
