Searching for Berkeley letters! I am an American academic working on the correspondence of George Berkeley, 18th century Irish philosopher and Anglican Bishop of Cloyne (1685-1753). I am publishing the collected correspondence (meant to be a service to philosophers and early modern historians) with Cambridge University Press.
I am looking for any information on letters TO or FROM Berkeley (signed or not, even if you just have a suspicion it might be to or from him) that are privately held. I have worked in all of the publicly available archives but have evidence of letters (from auctions, for instance) that exist in private hands. I simply want access to transcribe and publish the letters. Will consider purchasing letters in some cases. ANY leads on letters would be most appreciated. For additional details please contact me.
