The Women’s Committee of the ASA (American Studies Association) invites submissions for its forthcoming panel entitled
"Digital Displays: Women Imagining Blogospheres as Alternative Public Spheres"
Imaging the blogosphere as a commons site for social change and entrepreneurship, this panel offers papers and interactive demonstrations that address continuities and disjunctions in the ways new media has been anticipated, promoted, imagined and resisted in the twentieth and twenty-first century United States. Examining blogs that concern women of diverse racial, ethnic, gender and sexual identifications, this panel interrogates industry responses underscoring the ways in which new media has offered alternative sites for women to insert themselves as players into entertainment, academic and political spheres. This panel will be the official submission of the ASA Women’s Committee. For consideration please submit the following:
* Individual Paper Title (maximum of 15 words per title. Do not begin the title with quotes or other characters.)
* Paper Abstract (maximum of 500 words per abstract)
* Session Keywords
* Special Requests
* Individual Author information including: first name, last name, affiliation, e-mail address, and one-page vitae.
